Dr. Kavendra Naidoo | BDS (Otago), MBCHB (Auckland) - Dental Surgeon
Dr Kav is the founder of Auckland Family Dental. Growing up in the North Shore he attended Westlake Boys. After College, he left for Dunedin in pursuit of a Dental degree at the prestigious University of Otago. On completion of his Dental degree, he accepted a job in New South Wales, Australia. After a few years of practice there, he developed a keen interest in surgery, and in 2007 returned to Auckland and enrolled at Auckland University to complete his Medical degree (MBChB).

In 2013, Kav established the Auckland Family Dental brand. He has since added 6 dental practices to the brand. He specialises in all aspects of general dentistry but particularly enjoys Dental Surgery, Implants and Crown work. Kav has completed the POS system of orthodontics and has a large client base. Kav offers patients the choice of IV sedation during their dental procedures to make their experience more manageable.

Kav is an avid traveller and together with his wife, they enjoy travelling and pursuing outdoor activities.
Carin Burger (BchD Pretoria RSA)
After proudly graduating as a dentist in Pretoria in 2000, Carin helped providing dental care to rural communities in the Eastern Cape before joining a large family dental practice in East London. In 2008 Carin moved to NZ with her husband and 2 kids to become kiwis and worked in Tauranga and Auckland. Carin is passionate about dentistry and has joined the Southern Care Dental team in 2018 to continue to provide the best possible care to her patients in a warm and friendly environment. Away from work she enjoys running , reading and movies.
Aseem Anand (Practitioner)

Dr. Aseem Anand brings a wealth of skill, dedication, and compassion to dentistry. After completing a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Science at the University of Auckland in 2016, he went on to graduate with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery (Distinction) from the University of Otago in 2021. Since then, he has worked full time across Papamoa, Rotorua, and Tauranga (Emergency Clinic), where he has built a reputation for delivering exceptional dental care with precision and warmth.

Raised in Papakura, South Auckland, Dr. Anand is proud to return to the community that shaped him. With deep roots in the area through family and friends, he values the opportunity to provide outstanding care to patients in the region he calls home. His professional interests span all aspects of dentistry, with a particular focus on cosmetic treatments, crowns, and extractions. Currently, he is further honing his expertise under the mentorship of Principal Dentist Kav, ensuring that his patients continue to benefit from the highest standards of treatment and innovation.

Dr. Anand is known for his thorough and comprehensive approach. He believes dentistry is not just about fixing teeth, but about building trust and working alongside his patients to achieve the best long-term results.

Outside the clinic, Aseem enjoys photography, tramping and camping, gaming, and experimenting in the kitchen - especially baking breads and desserts. His curiosity and creativity in life mirror his passion for dentistry: attentive, thoughtful, and always striving for excellence.
Zain Hussain | General Dentist | BDS (Otago)
Zain is an enthusiastic and compassionate dentist at Auckland Family Dental, dedicated to delivering high-quality, patient-centred care. He provides comprehensive general and emergency dental treatment for patients of all ages, with a particular interest in dental implants, crowns, and oral surgery.

Zain graduated with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) from the University of Otago and is committed to ongoing professional development to ensure his patients benefit from the latest techniques and technologies in modern dentistry.
He finds genuine satisfaction in helping people and enjoys seeing his patients leave happy and confident with their treatment results.

Born and raised in New Zealand, Zain speaks fluent Pashto and takes pride in his cultural roots, with his family originally from Pakistan. Outside of dentistry, he enjoys playing and watching sports, travelling, and exploring new foods—both cooking and eating.
Support Staff
Mandy (Clinical Co-Ordinator)
Mandy joined the Southern Care Dental family in 2020. She brings with her years of front desk dental experience, and works hard to ensure the best experience for all patients from the initial phone call. Her efficiency and ongoing enthusiasm to learn new skills has made her an asset to our team. She is an avid dog lover, and spends a lot of time outdoors with her furbabies.
Kristen (Senior Dental Assistant)
Originally from South Africa, she now calls New Zealand home. She has been with Southern Care Dental since 2018. She has progressed from being a junior position, to now being experienced in all facets of dental care to support our patients. She has also obtained her certification in supporting our dentists in providing Dental Care under Intra Venous Sedation.

Her favourite pastimes are spending time with her family and children, as well as reading whenever she can.
Preeti (Dental Assistant)
Preeti moved to New Zealand with her family to enjoy a more balanced lifestyle. Being from a business background, she has flourished in providing support care for our dentists. Her warm caring nature, and eagerness to learn new techniques has made her an asset to the Southern Care Dental team.

In her spare time, she enjoys being with her family and children. She also loves to cook and often brings ethnic delicacies for us all to enjoy at work.
